Llama & Alpaca Ranch | En Route to Pisac On the journey to Pisac, you'll have the opportunity to encounter the diverse Andean camelids that inhabit this region, including llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos. Alpacas are known for their thick wool, commonly used in textiles, while vicuñas, smaller in size, possess delicate fur considered the finest in the world.
Guided Visit of Pisac Market and Ruins Following your visit to the Llama & Alpaca Ranch, continue to Pisac, where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the town's famous market. Here, you'll discover an array of handcrafted goods and fresh produce. Afterward, explore the Pisac ruins, featuring Inca masonry of exceptional quality. Explore Ollantaytambo and its captivating ruins, where the town retains its original Inca layout, with inhabitants residing in traditional cancha enclosures once occupied by Inca elites. The archaeological site here is of immense historical importance, as it was the setting for a significant battle during the Conquest, one of the rare instances where the Incas triumphed over the Spaniards. Following this visit, your journey continues.
In the afternoon, you'll head to Maras, home to the extraordinary Salinas, a unique site nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley near Urubamba. These vast terraces collect salt through the evaporation of saline waters flowing from an underground stream. Constructed similarly to agricultural terraces found throughout the Andes, the Salinas have been in use since pre-Columbian times. The salt-encrusted terraces create a visually striking scene. Nearby, in Maras, you'll discover the enigmatic Inca terraces of Moray. This exceptional site, believed to have been used for agricultural experiments, features several large circular terraced depressions. After your visit, you'll be transferred back to your hotel.

The Heart of Sacred Valley
Explore the heart of the Sacred Valley with a 3-4-hour trek and a visit to a rural village, guided by an expert. Start with a morning pick-up from your hotel and head to Chinchero, a historic town and ruins situated at a high altitude of 3,800m (12,500ft). Once home to Inca Tupac Yupanqui, this area boasts rich history, a charming village, and stunning views of the Cordillera Vilcabamba mountain range. Tour the town, the ruins, and optionally, visit a weaving center.
Embark on a moderate-grade hike through the Andean landscape, accompanied by friendly llamas and their caretakers. Ascend gradually for 1.5-2 hours, passing fields of crops and learning about regional plants and llama usage from the locals. Enjoy a mountain plateau for a break and picturesque views. Continue descending for about an hour, reaching the lesser-known Incan ruins of Machucollca, with panoramic mountain and valley vistas.
Your guide will explain the ruins' use as food storage. Then, a 20-minute walk takes you to the village of Rajchi, where a warm local family will welcome you to their home for a homemade lunch, featuring vegetables, potatoes, corn, and meat from their gardens. The menu varies with the season. After lunch, witness a weaving demonstration and learn about their textile craftsmanship. You can try your hand at farming or observe their daily tasks. Gain a deeper understanding of the region's culture and return to your hotel after a day of exploration.
We will take the train to Km 104, where we will embark on a approximately 6-hour hike. We will start by crossing a bridge that spans the banks of the Urubamba River, beginning at the archaeological complex of Cachabamba. Then, we will ascend towards the ruins of Wiñay Wayna. Access to this site is only on foot, and it is the closest archaeological site to Machu Picchu. Our next stop will be the Inti Punku (Sun Gate), where you will get your first incredible view of Machu Picchu, a sight that leaves everyone in awe. From here, we will begin our descent towards Machu Picchu.
Inca Trail
This day is when we will visit Machu Picchu. We will take the bus from Aguas Calientes to the Inca citadel, where your guide will provide a complete tour of the places you choose to visit. We will leave the incredible Inca citadel of Machu Picchu to return to Cusco on a luxury train, where you can enjoy a very pleasant landscape on the way back and, depending on the trend, enjoy a performance by the train staff. The train journey lasts nearly 2 hours, and the drive from Ollantaytambo to Cusco is also 2 hours.
Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo train station, you will be met by a representative of Andean Exclusive and transferred approximately 2 hours to your hotel in Cusco.
